Kalamalka lake

Fun at Kalamalka Lake today. But very smokey. A bunch of fires in the Okanagan and the smoke has settled in Kelowna.

jungle gym

Ok done. Now just waiting for the pea gravel to arrive. It took 3 days to build, not 8 hours as was advertized on the box. 8 hours? maybe with a crew of 4 construction workers...

Nelson

Our trip to Nelson, one of the best places in the world to live.

Spent lots of time on Joop's boat. Best part of the trip.

Back yard adventures

So, our backyard needs some work. There are no trees or plants (except for the lawn). We'll have to plant some. But first, the plan is to build a play set for the kids. Before we can do that though, we need to level and flatten a large section, since it's on a slope. But how? The soil is pure clay and rock. Impossible to dig.

Wait, I have an idea. Going to the store. Back soon.

Hey, look what I found. This should help.

Oh ya baby!

Nice to have some teenagers around eager to work

Ok, now level and flat, and the retaining wall is in. All that work, and haven't even begun building the play set....

Big Cousin Visiting

Kyran is visiting and looking after the girls for a couple of weeks. Which reminds me, I have a couple of old pics from when I first met Kyran...

Paul's Tomb

What to do on a 38C, hot and smokey day? Walk the path down the hill from our house, to Paul's Tomb, a nice quiet beach, for a refreshing dip. It was great.  But the hike back up, while carrying the little ones, wow, that was harder than I ever imagined.

Sister summer fun

Ogopogo - the snake-like monster that's supposed to live in Lake Okanagan. Several sightings. It's possible. It's a big lake. 135 km long and 230 m deep.

Relaxing at the beach

Bed story time.

Arrowhead

Miranda found a stone arrowhead in Okanagan Lake today. In the lake, under waist-deep water. A pretty big one. How old? 200 years? 1000 years? 10 000 years?
